Tuesday morning, I drove to the mail store. The leech delivery was from Colorado. At home, I opened the box. The leeches were in a little plastic container. They were alive. They were in pieces of gel that looked like ice; later, I learned this was HirudoGel, “a substance that keeps the animals in a clean, well-oxygenated, moist matrix.”
